Bogus Caller

We have received a report of a potential bogus caller from an occupant of Station Street, Cheslyn Hay

The occupant stated a male has attended the address wearing an orange fleece and work trousers claiming to work for Severn Trent. The male had no ID and the informant felt pressured to have work done on the drainage of the house.

The informant stated they would ring Severn Trent to confirm with them to which the male has then walked off towards Cheslyn Hay.

We want to remind residents to always:

🔒 LOCK – Keep your doors locked, even when you’re at home.
 

🛑 STOP – Before answering the door, think: Was I expecting anyone? Check through a spy hole or window.
 

🔗 CHAIN – Use a door chain or bar when speaking to someone you don’t know.
 

🔍 CHECK – Always ask for ID and verify it by calling the company directly using a number from their official website — not one the caller provides.
 

❗ Never agree to work offered on the doorstep. Rogue traders often overcharge or do poor-quality work.
